Dance Competition Registration

The Wausau Area Hmong New Year, Inc. will host the Wausau Hmong New Year celebration on November 9-10, 2024 at the Central Wisconsin Convention & Expo Center in Rothschild, WI.

DANCE COMPETITION FEE:

The dance competition has a registration fee of $50 non-refundable for Group A and B. Payments can be made through https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/1eb22637-af78-456a-b986-7bdf432d3e91 or contact us for a different payment method. A no-show at the competition will result in the loss of your registration fee.

AWARD OFFERINGS:

Dancing Competition Group A (12 years old and under): 1st place is $1000, 2nd place is $700, 3rd place is $500, and 4th place is $300.
Dancing Competition Group B (12 years old and over): 1st place is $1500, 2nd place is $1000, 3rd place is $700, and 4th place is 400.

We require that there must be at least 15 teams in each competition to receive the prizes above. If the number of teams is less than 10, the prizes will drop to the following:

Dance competition Group A: 1st place is $800, 2nd place is $500, 3rd place is $300, and 4th place is $100.
Dance competition Group B: 1st place is $1000, 2nd place is $700, 3rd place is $500 and 4th place is 300.

REQUIREMENTS:

The team must email all songs to the competition committee coordinators at wausauareany@gmail.com, marked with which day it will be performed. In preparation for a tie, we will also require a third performance.

To participate, each team must report to the Competition Committee table no later than 8:30 AM on November 9 and 10, 2024.

For further preparation, we suggest that you bring along a spare CD of your songs for the day of the competition.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS AND PRACTICE ROOMS:

The Wausau Area Hmong New Year, Inc., has blocked 3 hotels for dance groups at the following locations below. Please use “Hmong New Year” when you call to book your hotel for a discount. Reservations will need to be made a month prior to receive the group discount.

PRACTICE ROOMS:

In addition, we have reserved 3 rooms for dance teams to practice Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon at the Holiday Inn regardless of where you stay. We will have a sign-up sheet for dance practice on first-come first-register for the competition.

I, hereby give my consent to Wausau Area Hmong New Year, Inc. and other associates of Wausau Area Hmong New Year, Inc., to photograph, film, and/or videotape and then use, reproduce, and publish the following images of me and/or my child/children for commercial purposes without expectation of compensation or other remuneration now or in the future

I also acknowledge the risks involved in dancing. These include but are not limited to injuries. By signing below, I forfeit all my rights to bring a suit against the Wausau Area Hmong New Year, Inc. for any reason. In return, I will participate in the New Year and make an effort to obey all safety precautions per event and building protocol.

This agreement releases the Wausau Area Hmong New Year, Inc. from all liability relating to injuries that may occur during my performance at the Wausau Area Hmong New Year. By signing this form, I agree to hold the Wausau Area Hmong New Year, Inc. free from any liability, including financial responsibility for injuries incurred, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence.
